I have been a professional artist, graphic designer, and photographer my entire adult life. I have also been a professional woodcarver since 1976. I receive many of my commissions and sales from people like you visiting my site. I offer a wide range of art and carvings depending on your particular requirements and needs.

To make ordering as easy as possible for you and to get the attention you deserve, I have provided you with the below form so I’ll have a better understanding of how I can help you and to provide you with what your investment will be. To date, I have completed over 9,900 carvings, mostly commissioned. Here is a partial listing of some of my clients.

During my years as an artist I have worked with various mediums.

Early in my career I worked mainly as an illustrator and photographer.

In 1976 I started concentrating on carving wood. I also moved toward custom woodworking such as doors, gates, and furniture.

Today my main focus is still carving whether it be wood or stone.

I have taught hundreds of individuals the traditional skills of woodcarving at the American Wood Carving School in Wayne New Jersey, North Western University and Fairhaven College in Bellingham Washington, Wooden Boat Center in Marina del Rey California, Center For Wooden Boats in Seattle Washington, and University of New Mexico in Taos New Mexico. Today I offer my classes and Workshops at my studio here in northern New Mexico. I also teach on location here in the United States and abroad.

Here I am working on a carving commission in sunny Mexico about 360 kilometers south of Cancun. These photos were taken just a few days before this area was devastated by Hurricane Wilma. I got stranded here for an extra three weeks until they could get the road to Cancun cleared of trees and downed power lines. Life is good!!!

Over the years I have accepted commissions in such places as Baja and southern Mexico, Hawaii, and throughout the United States.

This is perhaps my most used tool. I first made this knife for carving signs and have since sold these to numerous woodcarvers, sign carvers and other artisans. My friends at the Pueblo tells me that they love it for cutting their leather patterns.

The reason this knife is called The Wolff Magic Knife is because of woodcarver, Benoi Deschenes.

I wrote this book not only for carving letters but as a book for anyone just starting out in carving and who wants to master the use of the Magic Knife described below.

I have used this book as a teaching aid for well over 20 years and have sold over 1,500 copies.
